Why does Funny Bone Books exist?

Summary: Despite my love of humor, my pandemic bookshelf was getting depressing. Then I read a funny book and I came up with the idea to combine comedy with candy because I also love candy.

Top 5 influences: The Simpsons, Tig Notaro, Wes Anderson, Gary Larson (The Far Side), and The Onion.

Here I am, trying to pose for a picture of me reading a book while eating sour gummy bears.

Full Story: I was an avid reader until the endless "analytical" papers of college absolutely destroyed my interest in the written word. This might be ironic, but I think I skipped that class.

Then ... pandemic! Stuck inside. Scared. Bored. I started reading again. One day I purchased Charles Portis' Masters of Atlantis because Conan O'Brien endorsed it. I laughed and laughed and decided to ditch the serious stuff for comedy.

Humor has been my number one salve for the tough stuff in life like addiction, breakups, grief, and even trauma. Aside from making other people laugh, I'm passionate about gift-giving and candy. As I continued to read more and more funny novels, the idea to start a book subscription box crystallized.

So, here it is: I read each book and then scour the internet for unique and tasty snacks to pack into a little box, just for you, my dear reader. I hope it brings you joy and comfort no matter how awesome or terrible your life is right now.
